Amazing: See What Happens When You Give More Than Someone Expects
When it comes to coffee I am pretty picky. I like it hot. Not lukewarm, not room temperature, but hot (although iced is wonderful in the summer). I like it strong. Not too strong of course, and certainly not weak. Coffee shops do a nice job (at $4 a cup). Automatic coffee makers do not (at any price).
Self-Check: Does Your Attitude Move The Needle?
We're in the process of searching for candidates for a couple of openings in our organization. It is always a love/hate process for me. More love than hate. I love meeting new people, learning about them, trying to find out what makes them tick. I guess the “hate” part is just the risk involved. There’s a lot at stake. “Northern Colorado media group seeking perfect person to join our team,” is no
Broncos Stun Bears 13-10 At Mile High
The Denver Broncos' magic continues after coming back to defeat the Chicago Bears 13-10 this afternoon at Mile High. Broncos kicker Matt Prater drilled a 59-yard field goal with :03 left in the game to tie things up 10-10, then hit a 51-yarder in overtime to give Denver its sixth win in a row, and seventh win in the last eight games.
We’re All Crazy (Yes, Even That Guy)
When I was in 4th grade, I thought 12th graders were adults (full of worldly knowledge and confidence). When I had cancer, I thought doctors had all the answers (having no question about just what to do). When I saw Barbara Streisand in concert, I thought she must love being on stage in front of thousands of people (loving the limelight and attention). I was wrong each time.
Discover If Your Team Is God’s Favorite
I spent last night watching a little college football. The University of Montana was hosting Northern Iowa in the FCS quarterfinals. It wasn't close. The Grizzlies dominated the Panthers from the start giving Montana a 48-10 win, and setting up a potential Montana vs. Montana State rematch next week in the semifinals, if MSU can win today.
Center Of The Universe Found (While Getting An Oil Change)
I needed to get my oil changed last weekend. Actually my wife needed to get the oil changed in her car, but I owed her 40-bucks, so I took her car in and paid to get the oil changed. Now we’re even right? (Actually, we’re even financially, but she owes me an hour and a half of my life back.)
Facebook vs. Face Time: How’s Your Balance?
A lot of what I do has me communicating on a daily basis with people in other parts of the country. From Fort Collins and Greeley, to New York and Arizona. Phone calls, email, text messages, internet, webinars, (and yes, still faxes from time to time).
Warning: A New Perspective Will Make You Happy
I was having a cocktail with a friend the other night, and we were talking about life stuff. He was asking some questions about my medical adventures of the past eight years, and commented that he was amazed at what a positive attitude I had about it all. I told him that there had been a few days along the we way when he wouldn’t have categorized me as positive. I took a sip of scotch.
Improve Your Day: How To Hit Your Mental ‘Control+Alt+Delete’
Our minds are a lot like computers. Every now and then we need to restart our machines. Clean out the clutter, delete old unused files, remove viruses. Whenever a computer in our office is having a problem, the first thing our IT Director will ask is, “Did you reboot?” And yes, that actually works most of the time.
How Good Are You At Turning Problems Into Opportunities?
We all make mistakes. Occasionally things go wrong. Sometimes it’s our fault. Other times there’s nothing we could have done to prevent it. Now I’m not one to often compliment the airline industry, but this time around Delta really impressed me.
CSU Fires Head Football Coach Steve Fairchild
Colorado State University has fired head football coach Steve Fairchild. The move comes in the same week that CSU terminated Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk, and announced Jack Graham as his replacement. The moves come at the end of a 3-9 football season. The search for a new head coach is underway.
Broncos Win In Minnesota 35-32, Tied For First
The Denver Broncos (7-5) won their fifth straight game, and sixth out of their last seven in Minnesota this afternoon by beating the Vikings 35-32 on a last second Matt Prater field goal. Oakland lost today at Miami 34-14, leaving the Broncos and Raiders tied on top of the AFC West. Denver hosts Chicago next Sunday afternoon at Mile High.
