Our minds are a lot like computers. Every now and then we need to restart our machines. Clean out the clutter, delete old unused files, remove viruses. Whenever a computer in our office is having a problem, the first thing our IT Director will ask is, “Did you reboot?” And yes, that actually works most of the time.

The thing is, just about every time I have an issue with my laptop, I forget to reboot, and call IT first. He then asks the question. I restart my machine, and things are usually better. I forget to reboot. I need a reminder.

Same deal with my mind. I need a reminder to reboot, and I recommend doing it every morning. Set something on your night stand that will remind you to hit your mental ‘Control, Alt, Delete’ before you get out of bed every day. It only takes three or four minutes.

The plan is simple. Before you start your day, take a few minutes to lie there quietly, and think about all the blessings in your life. Actually go through the list. Who loves you, and who do you love? What are you thankful for? What are you excited for? And why is today going to be a great day?

This is a serious mental reboot that changes your entire outlook on the day, and it only takes a couple of minutes. What you think about expands. Think positively, and you will go through the day looking for and seeing positive things. Think negatively, and; well you know.

Looking for a new, simple, life-changing habit? Try this one. Hold down your ‘happy key’ every morning. You’ll be amazed.
