I always knew I wanted to be on the radio, and I also knew that when I made it I would use my voice to help others. Well, I have been on the radio for a few years now, so it's time to help people! I can't say that I have ever felt so passionate about something like I do about this event. That is why I would love for you to clear July 15th off of your calendar and make plans to join me at Water Valley in Windsor for my 1st Annual Lures 4 Laney.

Fishing, live entertainment, kids games, food, prizes, and a ton of fun! You get it all with a small donation to Children's Hospital Colorado for cancer research. All of the funds raised will go directly to helping Colorado kids battling cancer and helping to find better treatments and a cure.

I didn't want to just go out and raise money for a cause I couldn't relate to or didn't know a lot about just to say I did it. That's where Laney comes in. In July of 2010 Delaney (Laney) Wadsworth was diagnosed with a 100% fatal, cancerous brain tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Laney passed away just days before her 4th birthday in March of 2011. The story absolutely broke my heart ans I knew I wanted to do something to make sure Laney and her story is never forgotten, and to also help make it so other parents don't lose their little girls and boys to this terrible disease. Read the whole story here.

After deciding this cause meant a lot to me, I had to figure out what to do to raise awareness and money. After talking with Laney's parents, Jason and Brenna, I found out she loved to go fishing. A fishing derby was a great idea! Water Valley in Windsor was on board right away, and agreed to host the event on their South Lake Island. The radio stations where I work also agreed to be a part of the event, and Lures 4 Laney was born.

Having worked in a bowling center for eleven years I knew a little bit about planning events, but I had never done it before. Sleepless nights, stress, and continuous ideas flowing through my mind, and it was just February. I wouldn't trade it for anything though. The event has become my little baby, and nothing has been more flattering than to watch it grow and see the support. The only thing that would mean more is to have you be a part of the event on July 15th!

I also have to take a moment to thank the businesses around Northern Colorado who have stepped up and helped out by sponsoring Lures 4 Laney; Luther Equipment and All American Towing in Greeley. And I cannot thank my good buddy Scott Horvath who is the State Farm agent in Windsor, for being the title sponsor for the event!

Please visit the Lures 4 Laney Facebook Page, like it, and stay up to date on all the cool things we have to announce over the next couple of months. Thank You from the bottom of heart for your support!
