Consumer experts almost always say you should never have to pay for services upfront, it's a major red flag. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has received reports of individuals seeking to charge High Park Fire victims fees of up to $700 to verify whether or not their structure were damaged by the fire.  It is not known if these solicitors are offering legitimate building inspection services, or if they are attempting some type of fraud.

Larimer County officials are in the process of making these property assessments and that the information is available free of charge.  Furthermore, most owners of the properties known to be damaged have already been notified.

Property owners are encouraged to call the official Larimer County Structure Verification Line at (970) 619-4086 to verify the condition of their properties.  This phone line is staffed Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
