Some sad news this week about Delilah, one of her children has passed away.  Delilah announced that one of her boys died from sickle cell disease.

Sickle cell disease is a serious disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. “Sickle-shaped” means that the red blood cells are shaped like a crescent. They block blood flow in the blood vessels of the limbs and organs. Blocked blood flow can cause pain, serious infections, and organ damage.

Delilah is the mother of 12 children, 8 of whom are adopted. She is a public advocate of adoption and her experience with the Foster Care system led her to establish a foundation called Point Hope.
