When I was down in Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving visiting the In-Laws, I was shocked to notice how much cheaper their gas prices were compared to ours in Northern Colorado. To be honest, recently I was actually feeling rather good about our gas prices. However after paying less than $2.50 a gallon over the holiday when I was in Southern Colorado, I was wondering where we stood compared to the rest of the country. According to FortCollinsGassPrices.com, at the time of this blog, gas prices in Northern Colorado can range from $2.66 to $2.90 a gallon.

According to Time Magazine, the national average is $2.77, that's down from $3.27 a year ago. The Coloradoan quoted the senior petroleum analyst of GasBuddy, Patrick DeHaan, stating the drop in oil prices are due to OPEC "deciding against a production cut, which will open the flood gates to even more gas price declines."

How much of a decline? Well, according to a news release by Josh Carrasco of AAA, “Drivers in southeastern states may see a select few stations selling gas at or below $2 in the coming weeks.” DeHaan in an interview with Bloomberg, was quoted saying, "We'll see at least one station in the nation at $2 by Christmas, and that’s not really a prediction at all. That’s more like a certainty."
