If no one tips, restaurant servers don't get paid.

That's always been the way it was. Waiters and waitresses have been at the mercy of diners since I've been alive. They live or die according to how much they make in tips. Factors that influence their tips range from their performance to the way individuals choose to tip.

Waitstaff also have to deal with times when people just don't go out to eat. Many waiters and waitresses have felt the pain of the slow week, month, or even year, when they had trouble with their bills because they just didn't make enough in tips because no one was in the restaurant.

Don't even get them started on paid vacation or sick days. For servers? Those don't exist.

Well, now they do, at least at one restaurant in Wheat Ridge, CO. As you can see in the video, these employees are about to go from earning $5 per hour plus tips to plain old $20 per hour. They will also start to enjoy some of the benefits mentioned above.
In a model that is gaining popularity, Abrusci's will be implementing a new pay structure.

Would you like restaurants to do away with tipping?
