According to AAA and abc.com, 88% of Memorial Day travelers will go by car. Far fewer fly for the festive free for all. Since gas prices are cheaper by about 25 cents than this time last year, it is surprising to hear that people will be driving shorter distances. On average, people will drive just over 600 miles this year over the holiday weekend compared with about 800 last year.
