In a recent research study put together by the website Estately, Colorado leads the nation in a subject that has been at the top of newscasts across the country since the start of 2015. After all the information and numbers were compiled, the state leads the way in the United States with the amount of kindergartners in the region who are not vaccinated.

According to the study, 19.9% of kindergartners are not protected from risks of measles, mumps, and rubella. Measles, in particular, has been tops in the news for the last couple months due to an outbreak the country hasn't seen in quite a while. In 2014, the United States saw 644 cases of measles. The concern for this years outbreak has to do with the fact that in the month of January, the country had already seen a sixth of those outbreaks reported. When you look at the median number of cases from 2001 - 2011, the average per year was 62. With the amount of children who aren't vaccinated from year to year, experts expect this number to climb. With Colorado leading the way in children who aren't protected, it places scrutiny on parents in the state who don't believe in the vaccinations.

The good news from the research? Colorado ranks highly for fitness, regular exercise, low obesity, and other healthy metrics and is near the top in almost every category.
