Two Tornadoes Touch Down in Weld County + More Tornadoes in Colorado

Update 6 p.m. Friday, June 6: We just received word from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office that a total of two tornadoes touched down in Weld County this afternoon.

The first tornado was initially reported at approximately 1:50 p.m. to the Weld County Regional Communication Center. They received several reports of a funnel cloud in the area of Grover, CO, in northeastern Weld County. This funnel cloud led to a tornado warning and the use of the tornado sirens in Briggsdale, Grover and New Raymer. The funnel cloud eventually touched down and was on the ground for several minutes. It was seen by citizens and Weld County Public Works employees. There was no damage reported from this tornado.

At 2:34 p.m. a second tornado warning was issued for southcentral Weld County. Citizens and first responders confirmed the touchdown of a tornado six miles southeast of Roggen, CO, in southeastern Weld County. This was the tornado previously reported on that damaged several buildings on a farm, and that also took down power lines and uprooted trees.

There were no injuries reported from either tornado. Weld County remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. tonight, June 6.

As of 6 p.m. tonight, there were a total of five tornadoes that were reported as having touched down in Colorado today.

A tornado touched down south of Roggen this afternoon, June 6, in Northeast Weld County.

Weld County Sheriff Deputies have reported that a farm with multiple structures was hit by the tornado. Windows were broken on a few structures and damage to the roof of a storage shed were the only reported damages. Additionally, it has been reported that some power lines are down and trees have been uprooted in the area.

No injuries have been reported thus far.

According to the Denver Channel, this was one of four tornadoes that touched down in Colorado today.

As of 4 p.m., the confirmed reports of a tornado are:

1:56 p.m. South Hereford in Weld County

1:57 p.m. East Trinidad in Las Animas County

1: 58 p.m. South Grover in Weld County

2:49 p.m. East Trinidad in Las Animas County
