New Belgium Ranks in Outside Magazine

New Belgium Brewing has made Outside magazine’s list of the “Best Places to Work”. The new issue lists New Belgium at No. 5 on their list. New Belgium made the list for the third time because of its on-site yoga, a volleyball court, climbing wall, indoor slide, foosball table, ping pong, and employees’ shift beer. New Belgium also gives a cruiser bike to employees on their first anniversary of employment and after five years with the brewery an all-expense paid trip to Belgium to learn more about beer culture.

Fireworks Rescheduled

The city of Fort Collins annual July 4 community fireworks display at City Park was postponed because of the High Park Fire. It has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 16th. The rescheduled fireworks is extra special because of the yearlong celebration of City Park’s 100th anniversary.

Smoky Day in Northern Colorado

Wildfire smoke will be lingering around Fort Collins today, according to the National Weather Service. The smoke is coming from wildfires burning across the west.

An ozone alert is in effect across the Front Range of Northern Colorado. Conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive groups including people with lung disease, asthma or other conditions. Such people should avoid extended strenuous activity, especially at the height of the day’s heat.

Boyd Lake to Close to Swimming

The Boyd Lake State Park swim beach will close to swimming on Monday August 20, 2012 due to low water levels. The area around the swim beach will remain open. The main boat ramp is open, and there are no restrictions on boating at this time, though the Boyd Lake Marina is not renting boats at this time.
