One of the biggest music duos ever, Darryl Hall and John Oates: Hall & Oates. They had scores of hits in the 70s and 80s, raking in millions of dollars. That doesn’t stop them from keeping an eye on their brand- as they’re taking a food company to court for using their name for a granola product!

Growing up, we all used to hear Hall And Oates on the radio all the time. “Kiss On My List”; “Out Of Touch”; “Rich Girl”, “Maneater”, “Private Eyes”, etc. They’ve had six platinum albums and four gold albums. Tons of money, tons of fans.

Maybe, Early Bird Foods has some big fans on their staff. Maybe that’s why they chose to call their granola snack item – “Haulin’ Oats”. Hall & Oats, haulin’ oats. They are very similar..

Well, Darryl and John aren’t having it. They’ve taken Early Bird Foods to court, claiming that “Haulin’ Oats” is trademark infringement. You can make a pun of their name to help market your stuff, man!

The folks at Early Bird Foods, aren't scared.

Quaker Oats, has made no comments on the controversy.
