The Creepiest Map Ever Shows Where Every Cat Lives in Colorado, and the World

I have said it before, and I am sure I’ll say it again… I love this whole map craze that is going on right now. It’s interesting to find out what makes different parts of the world, well, different. Except when it involves stalking cats. Then it’s just plain creepy!

I know that cute cats rule the internet, put up a cat picture on your Facebook page and watch the “likes” pile up. It’s because cat people are weird, and they think about them all the time. That is all fine, but now creepy cat people are no longer content just gawking at pictures of your cat, they now must do so and also know where you live!

Enter “I Know Where Your Cat Lives.” The creator of the site explains it like this: is a data experiment that visualizes a sample of 1 million public pics of cats on a world map, locating them by the latitude and longitude coordinates embedded in their metadata. The cats were accessed via publicly available APIs provided by popular photo sharing websites. The photos were then run through various clustering algorithms using a supercomputer at Florida State University in order to represent the enormity of the data source.

No, I really don’t completely understand either. What I take from that is, if you have a cat, you post it on a social media site, these creeps use that to locate you, and put your cat on a map so that cat-nappers around the world can come take it! My best advice for you… Don’t put pictures of your cat on Facebook!

By the way, there are over 500 cats mapped in Northern Colorado. See if yours, or your creepy aunt with 15 felines is mapped here.
