THANKSGIVING DAY BREAKFAST, MAKE IT AHEAD

  • 1 loaf of french bread, cubed
  • 1 lb of browned and crumbled pork sausage, let cool (my favorite is Farmland Original)
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 2 cups cheese, 1 each of cheddar and monterey jack or use a nice shredded blend you find in your cheese section at the grocery store, like Mexican blend
  • 2 1/2 cups of whole milk (yes you can use 2% or you could use half and half)
  • Salt and Pepper, plus a tsp of Cayenne powder
  • OPTIONAL ADD IN: 4 oz of cream cheese

Mix together the milk, eggs, cheese (I like to put some of the cheese aside and top the casserole with it either before refrigerating or just before baking), s/p, cayenne powder (or put this into the sausage when browning) if using the cream cheese drop clumps of it in on top of the egg mixture then add the sausage. Coat a casserole dish with cooking spray, add cubed bread and pour egg mixture over the top. Cover with foil and refrigerate. Set the oven to 350 degrees and bake till done (its done when the eggs set up and the cheese is melted)
