Today is the day with more sunlight than any other day of the year. Scientifically, the Sun has reached its northern apex at the Tropic of Cancer. This causes the increased heat and longer days of summer. The Earth isn't actually closer to the Sun during the Northern Hemisphere's summer. It is actually further away in its elliptical orbit. It is the more direct rays of the sun that cause summer to be warmer than winter.

As our year is cut into fourths, this is definitely one of my favorite times. My hands down favorite thing concerning atmospheric and meteorological conditions is a big fat powder day. However, this time of year is extremely special as well.

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

Song lyrics have rarely conveyed such a palpable feeling. What feels better than bare feet, shorts, and a cool drink while enjoying a sunset on a hot day. Whenever it isn't summer, it seems like we are always longing for it. When we are in it, let us enjoy it!!
