Stock Judging Pavilion at CSU Coming Down Biology & Chemistry Buildings Going Up

If you visit the CSU Campus in Fort Collins right now, the first thing you will notice is all of the construction.  In fact, the groundbreaking for the new Chemistry Research and Biology Buildings at Colorado State University is Thursday, October 15, at 1:30 PM.

The groundbreaking event will be held on the main campus, north of the Environmental Health Building and west of the intersection of Lake and East Streets. In order to make room for the new buildings, the old Stock Judging Pavilion is coming down.

The College of Natural Sciences will host the joint groundbreaking for both the Biology and the Chemistry Research Buildings.  These two buildings, to be located next to each other along the south side of Pitkin Street on the main campus, will be the Gateway to the Science Mall. The ceremony will follow the annual Scholarship Luncheon and kicks off homecoming weekend.

According to Jeff Dodge from Colorado State University:

This current era of construction is the most active in terms of total square footage growth and rate of growth of the main campus since the post war building boom on campus from 1956-1968. This is the largest scope of campus transformation (by way of more than $1.3 billion in construction and renovation projects that began in 2010) since the last major cycle of building and infrastructure investments which was in the 1960s and 70s.

Where Do I Park?

Paid parking is located at the Lake Street Garage at Lake Street and Centre Avenue.

Who Will Be There?

There will be remarks by System Chancellor and President, Dr. Tony Frank, and Dr. Jan Nerger, Dean of Natural Sciences.
