There will be a briefing on the Hewlett Gulch fire this morning at 9am at the Poudre Park Fire Station in Poudre Canyon. Attendees are asked to park clear of the access areas for emergency vehicles. Visit the Larimer County Emergency Information website for full details.

A fire started by unknown causes yesterday at about 1pm had consumed up to 300 acres as of yesterday evening, and residents of Poudre Canyon were preparing for potential evacuation.

Grey Rock and Hewlett Gulch trails are both closed. Fire danger in Poudre Canyon and across Colorado are very high, and forecast heat for the next week or so should only exacerbate the situation.
