Fenway Park turns 100 today, which reminds me of my favorite chick flick. Or, I should say, my two favorite chick flicks. While Fever Pitch is great, if I am to talk about the best movie that gives both males and females everything they need, I have to include For Love of the Game. Here's why.

For the Ladies...

Ummm...can you say happily ever after? That's what my wife is into, and both of these movies bring it in spades. In Fever Pitch, it's the never-ending Emersonian struggle both men and women go through when falling in love. How much of ourselves do we sacrifice for a relationship? Main character Ben likes the Red Sox. In this case, he likes them too much, to the point where he'll pass on a free trip to Paris with his girlfriend Lindsey because he has to watch the Sox play the Mariners. The only acceptable reason to pass on a free trip to Paris for a Red Sox game is if you are actually on the Red Sox roster. He lives and learns, hilarity ensues and they find a happy balance for his Red Sox mania(literally, in this case) that allows their relationship to survive.

For the guys...

Baseball. In both flicks, the connection to our National Pastime is shown and celebrated. The uninitiated to baseball learn about things like perfect games, the Curse of the Bambino, and why men act like they are part of the ownership group of their favorite team, when, in fact, they clearly are not. Important questions are raised. "Is she trying to change me?" and possibly more importantly, "Is it worth changing for her?"

Both of these films have something for each gender and are timeless. What is your suggestion for best love story that is friendly to both genders?
