Oprah's Favorite Things are in. They include scooters, eliptical machines, poofy jackets and checkbook clutches. The things in life that really make it worth living, truly, are free. Our Favorite Things are nice too. They are of the type that may help to add a smile to our face, add some convenience to our hectic lives and put an extra little spring in our step. Now, onto my favorite things of 2012, some that will no doubt carryover into 2013.

Firefighters

It's amazing to think of the sacrifices our firefighters, first responders, military personnel and police are willing to make just to keep us safe. Our blessings could hardly be more evident when things like the High Park Fire occur. It's impossible to thank them enough, but we'll try. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

Jeggings and Short Boots

Man, I can't even explain how good my wife looks in jeggins with short boots (pictured). Jeggings are leggings that look like denim jeans.  They retain the stylish look of jeans while hugging the curves like leggings. Finding their way into a very stylish pair of short boots, there is nothing that the 'girl about town' can't do in this fantastic fashion combo.

Abundance by Steven Kotler and Peter Diamandis

This book is the answer to the 'the world is coming to an end and has never been in a worse situation' cries that we hear, in my opinion, way too often. Kotler and Diamandis point out real world examples of why the world has never been in a better spot. They show that we've never had more opportunities for health, happiness and personal achievement. If you want to feel great about 2012 and better about 2013, read Abundance.

Smart devices

I used to carry 4 to 5 different electronic devices. Phone, camera, video camera, audio recording device, plus batteries to power many of them. Ugh. That's all I can say about that unsavory part of history. Now, I have one thing on my person besides my wallet and keys. Oh, how I love technology.

Carly Rae Jepsen

I hear and play the 'it' summer song of the year every year. Needless to say, some years are better than others. This year was a joy, as Carly Rae Jepsen's cute little voice coming from her cute little face made it's way into my ears all summer long. It paints such a great picture, it's danceable, it's fun! Way to go Carly Rae!
