The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Fort Collins. Fort Collins police responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 1600 block of Hastings Drive on Saturday, January 21 at 8:09 am.  Austin Snodgrass called 9-1-1 and requested assistance regarding an alleged stabbing in his residence.

When officers arrived, Snodgrass emerged from the house with a gun and confronted officers. The weapon was later determined to be a pellet gun replica of a Walther handgun. Officer Matthew Brede fired several shots, striking the suspect. He has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is department policy.

Snodgrass was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies following the incident and is currently in critical but stable condition. The officers were not injured.
