The City of Fort Collins continues its focus on taking our great area and making it even greater with improvements to the area on the north side of the Cache la Poudre River. McMurry Natural Area, which has also been accessible from Hemlock Street in Fort Collins, used to be an area less traveled because it was difficult to access. Well, the city has made remarkable improvements to it and it is now a must see. With the mild winter days we've been having lately, head out there sooner than later. These pictures of the beautiful sunset were taken just recently, and my opinion is that this is best area in town to take in a sunset.

I spoke with Rick Bachand Environmental Program Manager, Natural Areas Department of the city of Fort Collins, and he talked about the improvements.

We installed about 1/2 mile of new trail and it's built with some crusher-fine so it's more sustainable so in the spring you won't go in their and get muddy feet. We also constructed three new fishing pods, they are kind of these little areas that jut out from the banks and allow easy access for folks to go fishing or just observe wildlife. And we also put in a couple of benches where people can go and just relax.
