His voice will live on for years. Legendary crooner Ben E. King passed away on Thursday at the gand old age of 76

Singer Ben E. King died of natural causes on April 30, 2015 at the age of 76. Best known for his solo #1 hit ‘Stand By Me’ from 1961 (and later a hit from the movie of the same name), King was first a member of The Drifters. The Drifters had the hits ‘Up On The Roof’, ‘Under The Boardwalk’ and ‘Save The Last Dance For Me’ – later turned into a hit by Michael Buble.

His ‘Stand By Me’ was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress this year.

The music community, and the world, has lost a wonderful, soulful voice.
