The Citizens' Academy is designed to give citizens an inside look at the operations of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.It's coming up October 1, 2013 through December 17, 2013. The weekly evening class is limited in size to 35 participants on a first come-first served basis. The deadline for applications is September 20, 2013. There is a $25 fee to cover the cost of an academy tee shirt and lunch during the field day.
Every session is packed with behind the scenes information on how each of these units operate presented by the deputies or captains responsible for each area. Sessions include:

· Patrol Operations and Investigations

· Crime Lab

· Emergency Management and Emergency Services

· SWAT and Bomb Squad

· K-9 Unit

· Jail Tour

· Volunteer Opportunities

· Ride-along with a Deputy

Another highlight is a field day where citizens will participate in live scenarios responding to calls which includes live shooting with simulated ammunition, making a simulated traffic stop, and processing a crime scene for evidence. Get more information here: Citizens Academy
