I in 6 Americans struggle with hunger. That’s a lot of folks who need help from local food banks like the ones in Larimer and Weld counties.   A new social media campaign is underway to spread the word about feeding the hungry.  Got a spoon?

September is ‘Hunger Action Month.’  With that, Feeding America and food banks across the country, like the Food Bank for Larimer County and the Weld Food Bank are participating in ‘Spoontember’ to raise awareness of America’s hunger issues.  With 1 in 6 of us struggling with hunger in America, we all need to do more to help. You can help, by grabbing a spoon and doing a ‘spoon-selfie!’

A ‘spoon-selfie’ is a picture of you balancing a spoon on your nose- and posting that pic, along with statistics about hunger in America.

Be sure to use the hashtags #Spoontember and #HungerActionMonth. Then, you challenge a friend to do the same!  Why not challenge them to donate $5 to the Larimer or Weld County Food Banks?  Cash donations can go up to five times further than the amount donated in helping feed members of our community who struggle with hunger!

So, grab a spoon, and ‘Spoontember!
