In a press release from CSU Thursday, Dec 4, 2014 it's official, Jim McElwain has accepted Florida's offer to be their head football coach. This is the biggest buyout in NCAA history.

Jim McElwain officially stepped down Thursday as head football coach at CSU. He has accepted an offer from the University of Florida to be their head football coach.

Colorado State will receive 7 million from Florida for McElwain's contract. 5 million of the buyout will be in cash, the largest said sum paid in a buyout in college football history.

McElwain is the first coach to leave CSU for another football coaching job.

CSU offensive coordinator, Dave Baldwin, will tentatively step into the head coach position. CSU will begin an immediate search for a new coach.
