Millions of people flock to IKEA to buy stuff for their homes, but if you purchased one of their SMILA lamps in the past 14 years, you're going to want to read this.

They have recalled 23-million of them after one child was strangled to death by a lamp's chord and another had a close call.

According to KMGH, the fatal case involved a 16-month-old child died getting tangled in the lamp's cord. The other case involved s 15-month-old getting  tangled in the cord and was nearly strangled.

They were sold at IKEA from 1999 through 2013. 2.9 million were sold in the U.S. and 23-millions worldwide.

The lamp cord can present a strangulation hazard to infants and young children.

Customers who have an IKEA SMILA wall mounted lamp should immediately check that the lamp and cord are out of reach of children and contact customer service at (888) 966-4532 to receive a repair kit free of charge.
