After a couple years of speculation as to what the building and/or land would be used for, the the Colorado State University System Board of Governors unanimously voted to demolish Hughes Stadium, which has sat near Overland Trail in Fort Collins since 1968.

Considerable options for the future of this spot included a concert venue, a festival gathering spot, a stadium for high school games, a CSU museum, a rodeo arena, or a spot to put affordable housing.

The entire removal process of the stadium is estimated to take about a year, and anywhere from $4-6 million, but will free Colorado State from paying continuous upkeep so it doesn't become a danger nor an increasing eyesore.
