The website SSRN has a completely different view of Florida than the rest of us, not even ranking it in the top 10 in terms of being psycho out of the 48 contiguous states.

But they do redeem themselves quickly by placing California and Wyoming early in the list.  (Sorry.  Just going by personal experience.  And there are always good and bad in every bunch.)

Colorado comes in as the 18th most psychopathic state - only two spaces below good ol' Florida!  Which is... well... believable, when you consider a lot of the news stories that emerge here.

Washington, D.C. was added to the 48 states and won in a landslide - although it is the only city in this study, which comes from Southern Methodist University.

Most psycho state?  Connecticut!  Followed by California, New Jersey, New York, Wyoming, Maine, Wisconsin, Nevada, Illinois, and Virginia.

Least?  West Virginia, Vermont, Tennessee, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Montana, Mississippi, Indiana, and Oregon.

Attributes studied to determine these outcomes were:  extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience.

This was decided after first breaking down the characteristics of being psychopathic to  disinhibition, boldness, and meanness, and a previous paper shows that these characteristics can be translated into the main five traits: "Boldness corresponds to low neuroticism and high extraversion, meanness corresponds to low agreeableness, and disinhibition corresponds to low conscientiousness."

From your experience, what state(s) would you move on this list?
