As it turns out, I can fit quite a bit of wood in my little Subaru.

I say little, because compared to an F350, it's not a big vehicle. But for Subaru, the Forester is big, with 64.6 cubic feet of cargo space. I think I filled about 40 of it with wood. Me, my dog, my accoutrements and air took up the other 24.6.

I like being in a vehicle with one big space. It suits winter sports, and other year round activities, travel, and as you'll see in this video, some light hauling as well.

Their cabin did burn in the High Park Fire. Below is actual footage taken by Wade (shown in above video at :13 seconds). He shoots in stunned silence as he drives along Old Flowers Road, knowing just what was happening to his family's long time house on the hill.

I've stacked the wood and my pile is about five by six by two, or sixty cubic feet. A cord is eight by four by four, or 128 cubic feet. I brought almost half of a cord in my SUV with the box on top. Hopefully that will last me until we move to a more efficient, though less ambient, propane fireplace insert.
