A student at Northridge High School has come forward and admitted to posting Facebook threats regarding a violent clown purge and shootings that were supposedly going to occur on Halloween night in Greeley. The student is now facing criminal charges and has been removed from school, claiming they created the posts solely to receive attention.

The Greeley Police Department and Weld County District 6 School officials had been working closely together to determine the source of the rumor since the original threats began appearing on the internet Monday. During this time, many parents chose to keep their kids home from school out of concerns for safety. On Wednesday, September 28, District 6 school administrators sent out an email to families that further explained the situation:
