The smoke and blazes from the High Park Fire may be gone, but for many residents, the impact remains and will for some time to come. The long term affects on people's emotions aren't the only lasting effects. There are physical affects that rebuilding in an area devastated by wildfire can have and experts are hoping to help those that seek to start over in the fire area.

Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources is presenting a free, one-day symposium to help provide a science-based understanding of the High Park Fire, its impacts, and scientifically based solutions for recovery.

According the the Loveland Reporter Herald, the symposium’s daytime agenda will cover what happened during the High Park Fire and its impacts on the landscape, watershed and community. In the evening they'll talk about restoration and recovery. Examples of successful wildfire recovery efforts, and information from organizations that are mobilizing restoration efforts and recruiting volunteers in Northern Colorado will be covered.

The one-day symposium, “High Park Fire: From Science to Action & Recovery,” is today (Sept. 10) from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m at the Colorado State University Lory Student Center Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.
