Greeley Pallet Recycling Plant Fire [PICTURES]

Greeley residents could see smoke from a large fire on the east side of town on Wednesday afternoon. Greeley firefighters were called to 1500 Ash Avenue in Greeley on a report of fire at a pallet recycling business. While responding fire crews reported a huge column of black smoke rising from the location. Upon arrival, fire crews found rows and rows of pallets covering the area of approximately the size of a city block and stacked 12 feet high, burning.

30 firefighters were worked to get the fire out.  Fire crews were challenged because of somewhat limited fire hydrants in the immediate vicinity of the business which required extremely long hose lays to get water to pumper trucks.

No damage estimate is currently available and there were no injuries reported.
