Fort Collins police are investigating a beating that happened Friday night which may have been a hate crime. According to 9News, after a night of bar hopping in downtown Fort Collins, Vincent Ramirez and Steven Anthony were at Ramirez’ home where the beating took place.

"I had told him, 'if you are gay, if you happen to be gay, that's OK; I'm here for you,'" Anthony said. "I think that might be what set off his anger."

Anthony ended up fleeing the residence after being allegedly attacked, and contacting Uber for a ride to the hospital, for fear that Ramirez might hear him calling 9-11. Ramirez was arrested and released on bond, though no formal charges have been filed as of yet.
