Flooding Closes Roads and Kills Person in Boulder County
Boulder County has experienced a flash flood emergency which killed at least 1 person, closed several roads, and prompted evacuations. Many roads in Boulder County were not passable late last night, including U.S. 36 in both directions.
An evacuation notice was issued for Jamestown in Boulder County. Boulder County officials say multiple homes in the Jamestown and Nederland area have collapsed. A collapsed home in Nederland killed one person.
Some areas of the University of Boulder campus were evacuated last night as a precaution. CU issued an alert to its students because of the flooding. CU is reporting damage to some buildings on campus but all appear to be structurally sound. All classes at CU-Boulder are canceled today.
Boulder’s Office of Emergency Management said that Erie was the hardest hit spot in the county with 9-12 inches of standing water.
