This weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Why? Because we set our clocks back to standard time, getting a extra hour on Saturday night! (I know it's technically Sunday Morning, but a longer Saturday night just sounds more fun.)

Getting an extra hour, falling back, call it what you want, but just remember to set those clocks back before you go to sleep this weekend.

For most Americans daylight saving time ends this weekend and we "fall back" to standard time on Sunday, November 3, at 2AM.

You can check the official time in via the widget below or you can always go to Time.gov.

Why do we have daylight saving and standard time changes? We may have Benjamin Franklin to thank. Discovery News says that the idea may have been first suggested in a "1784 essay he wrote that adjusting the clocks in the spring could be a good way to save on candles."
