The Biggest Public Company title belongs to retail powerhouse, Walmart, based in Arkansas, and employs 2.2 million people worldwide. YUM! Brands, which owns KFC and Taco Bell, employs half a million people, and they come in second.

Earlier this year, Forbes looked at the biggest public companies in each state based on revenue, topping that list for Colorado was Level 3 Communications Inc. with $18.18 billion.

Getting down to what we care about, I mean capitalism is cool, but how many jobs do those big companies create? For Colorado the largest employer is DaVita Healthcare Partners, Inc, according to Forbes as of Dec. 31, 2015, DaVita employs 60,400 people. Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc, is the second largest employer in the state with 59,330 people employed.
