The Denver Post is reporting that CSU Chancellor Joe Blake is stepping down.

Joe Blake, whose career has catapulted him through such diverse pursuits as FBI agent, real estate developer and president of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, announced Thursday that he will leave his position as first-ever chancellor of the Colorado State University System.

Blake, 75, took the newly created position in 2009 with the idea that his business connections and familiarity in the legislature would be a boon to the two-campus system.

He also helped guide CSU Global Campus, the university's online presence, into existence.

"All three are doing great work, thriving," Blake said. "It's the perfect time to step back and say, let's have a new relationship with Colorado State University that gives me the opportunity to continue my passion for this institution."
