According to the Coloradoan, a black bear was noticed wondering around Fort Collins Wednesday morning near the intersection of Lemay and Conifer in the Northwest section of the city.

The recent reports follow sightings farther north of the city earlier this week.

Colorado Parks personnel tell the Coloradoan that they still haven't been able to locate the bear that was spotted Wednesday. While officials are hopeful the bear will leave the city on it's own, they will be keeping an eye out for any more sightings.

While it's not uncommon for bears to roam into the city, officials ask residents to continue to take precautions and minimize the appeal to the bears by taking care of bird feeders, chicken coops and trash.

Officials say that the bear population in the state is on the rise in recent years, with around 19,000 bears in the state. This is up from the reported number of 12,000 from the early 2000's.

If you spot a bear in your neighborhood, you can call the Colorado Park and Wildlife department at 303-866-3437.
