Sad news out of Greeley from this weekend as actress Amanda Peterson passed away on Sunday. She was only 43 years old.

Peterson played cheerleader Cindy Mancini in the 1987 hit comedy Can't Buy Me Love, where she played opposite actor Patrick Dempsey.

Her father told TMZ that the official cause of death is unknown, but that an illness and sleep apnea may have played a role in her death.

Along with starring in Can't Buy Me Love, she also was in the 1986 theatre hit Explorers along with other credits in television. She retired from acting in 1994 and has been living in the Greeley area for many years.
