As the Sierra Trading Post flagship store gets closer and closer to opening, the Foothills Mall just down the street is preparing to enhance the renovation of Midtown Fort Collins as well.

As you can see in this video and by the artist renderings throughout, a real modernization is happening to the mall that was opened in the 1970's.

It's easier for the fashions inside stores to keep up with the trends than it is for the facades, exteriors, and interior structures. For those to changes, it requires a lot more than just a stitch here, some fabric there.

They are raising the roof, improving skylights, renovating the old and bringing in the new, and attempting to do it while current stores stay open for business.

If you've been to the mall lately, you know that it has a weird feel because of the construction barriers that are in place of where the storefronts used to be. There is a silence that comes along with those, because according to the video, they are soundproofed. Crews are hard at work behind them even though we may not be able to hear them.

The new development is slated for completion around fall or winter 2015, according to the Alberta Development Partners website.
