500 women in Colorado die every year from Breast Cancer. When it is detected early, 98% of women survive. Early detection is the key, especially for women over the age of 40. The Weld County Health Department is stepping up to help those women who can’t afford to be screened, to get a free mammogram!

From Dr. Mark E. Wallace MD MPH Executive Director of the Weld County Health Department:

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good time to remind the women in our lives to get screened. We are proud to work with the Women’s Wellness Connection to offer free mammograms and pap tests to women who need them but can’t afford them.”

Women who can’t afford to get a mammogram, may be eligible for the program; if cancer is detected while in the program, treatment resources are available and most will qualify for Medicaid to cover the treatment.

It’s awesome that Weld County is offering this. The more women we help save, the BETTER! Do you know someone who could take advantage of this?  Let them know!
