Safewise is out with their annual Safest Cities list. They look at the most recent FBI Crime Report and found the safest cities report an average violent crime rate that's 83% lower than the typical American city.

Cities are eligible if they had 3,000 or more residents in 2013.  They then take data and look at the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes.

What constitutes a "violent crime?"
Murder
Robbery
Forcible Rape
Aggravated Assault

What is a property crime?
Burglary
Arson
Motor Vehicle Theft
Larceny Theft

If a city didn't report data to the FBI or those that reported incomplete data were not eligible. To see the complete list of Colorado's Safest Cities, click here.
