Soldiers past and presents have protected our freedoms throughout the years. Some have even lost their lives in the process. Now is our turn to help honor what they did for America.

According to CBS 4 Denver, the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation is again looking for volunteers to assist them in lighting luminarias which represent a Colorado soldier who died while at war.

They plan on having 6,213 luminaria that need to be lit this holiday season.

Volunteers are asked to offer up a minimum of one hour to either light the candles or turn them off. The event is only three nights, but the need is there to make it happen in 2017.

Dates needed for volunteers include:

November 30th

December 1st

December 2nd

It is a family friendly event, and the lighting goes on no matter what the weather is each day.
