I've always been a fan of video games.  My grandparents had an old Nintendo Entertainment System when I was little, so "Super Mario Bros." and "Duck Hunt" quickly became my two favorite pastimes.  But was I ever addicted to video games?

Yes.  Yes I was.  From those early Mario days all the way through my teenage years, it was a struggle for me to focus on anything besides video games. My parents took them away on numerous occasions due to declining grades in school; and even then, playing them was still a hard habit to break.  Even as an adult, I initially struggled with making gaming a little too much of a priority sometimes.

Luckily, as I've gotten older, my priorities have shifted for the better.  Sure, I still enjoy video games; but I never devote the time and energy into them that I used to.

My point is: anything can be addicting, video games included.  And this story from 9 News reminded me of that.
