You might want to make sure your pets are up on all their shots, because it looks like rabies could be going around in northern Colorado, namely in the Greeley area.

The first skunk was found Monday in the 100 block of 23rd Avenue, and the second was found Tuesday in the 2100 block of 7th Street. Both tested positive for the virus after undergoing tests at the Weld County Health Department, according to a news release.

Rabies attacks the nervous system and is almost always fatal, so keep yourself and your pets away from any animal that's acting strangely.

Rabies lives in saliva and can be transmitted through a bite or open wound.
