The Colorado Eagles have a familiar item back at the Budweiser Events Center after completing an amazing comeback in both the series and the final game.

This past Saturday in Florida, the Eagles and Everblades were battling in a decisive game 7 with the Everblades leading 2-1 heading into the final period. Travis Barron slapped in the game tying goal and Gabriel Verpaelst got the game winner in the final minute of the game. Talk about an unlikely score....Verpaelst ranked 14th on the team in goals for the season.

The road to their second consecutive championship didn't lack in drama. The Western Conference Championship against Fort Wayne also went 7 games and their postseason saw 9 overtime games with one of those going into double overtime. They trailed Florida in the series 3-2, but turned that around with a win at home to tie the series and finished them off with the 3-2 Game 7 win in Florida. The effort all season was "defend the Cup" in what was their final year in the ECHL. With the move to the AHL, the Eagles take possession of the Kelly Cup for the last time.

The players and the cup arrived from Florida Sunday evening in what was no doubt a fun flight home. Now, it's time to celebrate with the fans! The Eagles are hosting a championship party and rally at the Budweiser Events Center on Tuesday, June 12th with doors opening at 5:30pm and the cup presentation at 6:30pm.
