The Fern Lake Fire in Rocky Mountain National Park continues to burn, and is currently estimated to be at 30% containment.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in determining how the Fern Lake Fire started. Evacuations of hikers and campers, closures of campgrounds and trails, and difficulty for firefighters have ensued since the spark of the blaze.

Thick smoke, difficult conditions and uncertainty abound in the battle against the Fern Lake Fire that is burning inside Rocky Mountain National Park. Gusty winds caused problems for firefighters throughout the day yesterday and aircraft even had trouble determining the size of the fire because of the high winds.

Air support has been called in to assist in fighting a 100- to 150-acre fire burning in Rocky Mountain National Park, southwest of Estes Park.
