A beautiful spring day in Northern Colorado can often be littered by something that falls like snow. Cottonwood cotton are small seeds carried by wind-borne "cotton" coming from female cottonwoods. Many people think these flying cottons cause severe allergies, but it may just be the other stuff in the air at the same time.

Although cotton can be a nuisance, it has no allergenic properties. People with allergy symptoms during June cotton distribution are probably suffering from other wind-borne pollen - from grasses, weeds or other trees.
