Shaun Boothe Brings his Powerful Performance to the Lincoln Center

Sometimes, the hip-hop genre gets a bad rap by people who lump it all together, claiming it glorifies sex, drugs, and violence. While lots of hip-hop songs do include these topics, the genre can also be used in a positive and powerful way – to deliver a message that truly sticks. Using hip-hop to uplift and inspire is exactly what speaker, Shaun Boothe, does when he takes the stage.

Coming to the Lincoln Center on Saturday, January 26, The Unauthorized Biography Series presented by Shaun Boothe, aims to entertain and inform in an awakening half concert/half TED Talk performance. Boothe, who is an award-winning hip-hop artist himself, created this unique musical project to celebrate some of the world’s greatest cultural icons, such as Bob Marley, Muhammad Ali, Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, Bruce Lee, Oprah Winfrey, Tupac Shakur, Terry Fox, and Nelson Mandela. He does so through biographical rap songs, where he then expands and explores on the life lessons the audience can learn from these icons. Boothe's messages range in themes from things like overcoming fears, to redefining masculinity and success and leadership strategies, and his interactive performances have gotten attention from big-time artists in the industry.

Showtime for The Unauthorized Biography Series is 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online or directly at the Lincoln Center's Box Office.
