Redevelopment Project in Loveland Calls for Removing 50 Trees

The City of Loveland is redeveloping two city blocks in the downtown area, in what is being called the South Catalyst Project. Don't freak out, but It will require removal of about 50 trees.

Tree removal is essential to accommodate new development of the zone between Lincoln and Cleveland avenues, including the entire block between Third and Second streets and half of each block north and south of that portion.

Contractors working for the City are scheduled to begin the work the week of Feb. 15. The city wanted everyone to know that it is well in advance of the spring arrival of migratory bird populations to Loveland, so no nests will be disturbed.

The City has ensured that more trees will be planted in the area than the number removed to accommodate the new development. According to  Development Manager Mike Scholl, “The resulting project will offer more in terms of tree-scape than what exists now”.
